New York officials are trying to get America's largest city to be a little less large—and to get its citizens to use less energy—with three words: Take the stairs.
The city has posted banners across its boroughs imploring New Yorkers to "burn calories, not electricity" by skipping the elevator for a trip up the steps. And besides the planet-saving stuff, city officials say that just 2 minutes of stair climbing each day will "burn enough calories to eliminate the one pound an average adult gains each year."
Well, I guess it's time for me resist the temptation of the elevators. Lucky me!xoxo
