Here's something for your weekend.
We all know that red wine has health benefits. A glass or two a night (no more!) can keep your veins and arteries supple, and provide protection from heart disease.
What about beer? It, too, has benefits. The latest evidence comes from The Journal of Neuroscience, which reports that beer can boost your memory.
Unfortunately, the research was conducted with rats, so its usefulness isn't entirely clear. Sounds like some human experiments will be necessary. Volunteers?
We suspect the rat research translates to humans. Who hasn't noticed how beer stirs up memories?
That can be a problem, one of the scientists says: Beer could "promote traumatic memories" and lead to more drinking and, eventually, alcoholism.
But beer in moderation is wonderful—you can even bathe in it.
And if you're watching your caloric intake, use our guide to the best low-cal beers.
Cheers!
