Gran Canaria - the Last Vacation

I was in Gran Canaria (politically belongs to Spain or is geographically located near Africa) for a week. The weather was similar to my homeland, since the island is located near the equator. So, the temperature fluctuates between 22 to 29 C. Compared to the temperature in Germany, it was no doubt heaven's temperature. I stayed at the Gloria Palace Hotel, a 4-star hotel. My former colleague and I were very lucky to get a double room. Each of us occupied one room. It was very comfortable indeed, since we didn't have to suffer from hearing each other's snores.

In the first 3 days, we went mainly to the nudist beaches (Playa del Ingles and Playa del Maspalomas). After 2 days sunbathing for several hours, I really got tanned again. I even find it too brown for my taste. Nevertheless, most of my colleagues were quite jealous after I showed them the color of my skin. Besides resting we did little errands, e.g. buying bottles of water since you can't drink the tap water in most of southern european countries, searching for cheap internet coffee shops.

A day before we flew back, we went for a jeep tour. It started so early that we had to wake up even earlier on that day than other days for breakfast. The first thing all the participants did, was riding the camels in the dune. Totally amusing. Afterwards, the tour began. We went up and down the mountains. At the end of the journey, the tour guide took some cactus figs. I got the chance to taste the sweetness or better the sourness of the figs. Very delicious.
